The qualification is designed to be the substantive part of a study programme for learners wanting a strong core in a specialist engineering sector. Specialisations are available in Engineering, Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Computing, Manufacturing and Aeronautical Engineering.

Name: BTEC HNC Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Qualification title: BTEC HNC Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Learners must achieve a minimum of 120 credits (of which at least 65 must be at level 4) on their programme of learning to be awarded a BTEC Level 4 HNC and a minimum of 240 credits (of which at least 125 must be at level 5 or above) to be awarded a BTEC Level 5 HND. The assessment of BTEC Higher National qualifications is criterion-referenced and centres are required to assess learners? evidence against published learning outcomes and assessment criteria. All units will be individually graded as ?pass?, ?merit? or ?distinction?. To achieve a pass grade for the unit learners must meet the assessment criteria set out in the specifications. This gives transparency to the assessment process and provides for the establishment of national standards for each qualification.
