On this framework you will study twelve mandatory units including communication in health and social care, health and safety, duty of care, the role of the health and social care worker and safeguarding individuals. You then have a choice of optional knowledge and competence units covering different areas of health and social care such as caring for new born babies, supporting parents, anatomy and physiology for maternity support workers and planning and monitoring work. In addition you will study employment rights and responsibilities, personal learning & thinking skills plus be required to take Functional Skills in both English and maths if you do not have GCSE grade C or equivalent.
