You will undertake the final 6 units of a 12 units qualification. These will enable you to build on the skills you acquired on the AS course. There is a requirement to undertake both a Fine Art project and a Design project before you are allowed the opportunity to choose an area/discipline in art and design to specialise in. This decision coincides with the Synoptic Project, the externally set unit, which is issued in February. There is a compulsory business unit which requires you to investigate and understand how practitioners in art and design work professionally. There will also be a requirement to produce an extended written essay. This course allows your 2D/3D skills and development to take on greater depth, helps you prepare an art and design portfolio for progression onto Art Foundation/university and encourages you to extend your ideas and responses in a more personal way.
