Clay Modelled Sculpture - Further Skills

This course is ideal for those previously attending Clay Modelled Sculpture - All Abilities or a similar course, or who have experience in working with clay in making pottery or sculpture. It is not suitable for beginners in this subject. The course will advance your sculpting skills and understanding of techniques in using clay as a modelling material. Mainly working from photographs and drawings you will be looking at figurative, animal and natural forms to produce sculptural pieces of work and will be encouraged to try more challenging themes both figurative and abstract. Skills in modelling to enhance form, how to make different surface finishes and preparing for firing will be covered. You will be encouraged to undertake research individually and where possible visit galleries and exhibitions for inspiration. Libraries have a number of books on Sculpture and Modelling. The Internet can also be explored for information.
