UPDATED 20160609 10:14:27

What will I do on this study programme? You will gain a broad understanding of the early years and social care sector and start to develop the knowledge and skills you will need to work with vulnerable people. When you are confident you may attend a work placement to experience real work practice and demonstrate your skills. You will cover a number of units which will include investigating rights and responsibilities at work, preparing for work placement, human development, personal care in health and social care, creative and leisure activities for children and adults and promoting healthy eating. Maths and English is a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through written coursework, presentations and practical experiences. What options do I have after successfully completing? This study programme is a stepping stone to further education at Level 2, a Traineeship or an apprenticeship; however the personal, social and work skills that you will gain will support your employment opportunities in all areas.
