What will I do on this course? The British creative industry is one of the most successful in the world. This A Level is an exciting base for working in the world of creative arts. Building on your GCSE Art and Design, you'll develop a variety of media techniques including drawing, painting, ICT, 3D and print. You'll visit local and national galleries to investigate different disciplines and styles to complement your personal projects. You will be expected to do a large amount of work in your own time. Year 1 You will focus on developing a portfolio based on a chosen theme or subject matter. Year 2 Year 2 units allow you to develop your own starting point and work on it solidly until the exam begins in the spring. There is a written element to the year 2 programme which allows you to comprehensively evaluate your development through the year. How will I be assessed? You will do a controlled assessment in May (40% of your final marks), as well as submitting portfolio work. What options do I have after completing this course? Weston College's successful University of Arts London Art Foundation course, followed by arts at university or one of our Degree courses offered in partnership with Bath Spa University at Weston College A wide range of Degree courses at university The potential for a vocation in the creative industry is huge and you can explore careers in 3D design, curation, conservation, fashion, illustration, web design, and applied arts, not to mention arts education, film, media industries, architecture, film, animation and the fine arts.
