What will I do on this A Level? Communication and Culture is the study of all aspects of human communication - from who we are to pop videos, from body language to the world wide super culture. It's a discovery subject - taking your experiences and matching them to the theory. It's not a subject of set answers and regurgitated facts. What's more it's not even a new subject, having been on the A level scene as Communication Studies since the 1970s. Finally, as you can't study it at GCSE, it's new to everyone. Study cultural practices such as graffiti and the works of Banksy Consider why we dress the way we do Explore how we use language in different situations Find out what culture is Ask why it's considered high culture to go to the theatre Think about the role we play in groups Analyse what makes up our own identity. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through exams (50%) and coursework (50%). What options do I have after completing this A Level? Degree study at university in media, communications, English, business or a related area Careers could include areas such as human resources, management, journalism, social work, marketing, teaching, the police and media.
