The fish and shellfish framework of qualifications underpins the intermediate and advanced apprenticeship programmes supported and promoted by Seafish, the Seafood Training Academy and the National Federation of Fish Friers. It is this modern apprenticeship programme that is being enthusiastically taken up by employers across the UK for both new entrants and established employees, young and older workers, and even by the occasional owner manager. This apprenticeship is the perfect option to allow you to start or keep earning while receiving on and off the job training. As well as being paid, you will work towards nationally recognised qualifications with the full support of Duchy College and your employer. Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes; most of the training is on the job at the employer s premises. The rest is provided by Duchy College, normally on a one day a week basis, although variations can apply according to the programme. Employment is expected to be for a minimum of 30 hours per week (which includes the college based element of the training). Duchy College has established itself as a Centre for Food Manufacturing Excellence and is one of the largest providers of Food and Drink Apprenticeship training in Devon and Cornwall. We have considerable industry experience and have been working closely with Seafish, the Seafood Training Academy and the National Federation of Fish Friers to develop a programme which best suits your needs.
