Geology is the study of the Earth - how it works and its 4.5 billion-year history. Geologists study some of society's most important problems, such as energy, water, and mineral resources; the environment; climate change; and natural hazards like landslides, volcanoes, earthquakes, and floods. The course covers the materials that Earth is formed from and how processes affect these materials to give our planet the form it has today. You will learn how the oceans and continents came into being and how they may evolve in the future. Through the study of fossils you will uncover the origins and development of life on Earth and how climatic conditions have changed over geological time. There will also be the opportunity to study geology in the field. Taking advantage of some of Cornwall s outstanding geology to develop your understanding of this fascinating subject
