Floral Design - Summer table arrangements

UPDATED 20160608 10:16:23

Is this the right course for me? This class is suitable for those who would like to create a selection of small table arrangements suitable for their home or to give as gifts. You need not have any previous experience as this one day workshop is suitable for beginners. However, it would also be suitable for those who already have some skills and wish to create decorative arrangements for this time of year. The workshop will be a relaxed and fun day spent creating fresh floral arrangements. What will I learn? You will make 2 different table arrangements one all round table design and one small design created in a small china tea cup. Other suitable table decorations may also be created (time permitting) such as a small cake garland. You will learn how to condition flowers to prolong their life. You will learn about tools and equipment, combining colours to create harmonious arrangements and basic flower arranging techniques and how to identify a range of different flowers and foliage. How will I learn? Practical demonstration by the tutor, practical work completing your arrangements, discussion and sharing ideas within the group and handouts covering the arrangements, conditioning and colour harmonies. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance and Achievement from your tutor if you request one at the beginning of the workshop. What can I do next? You may wish to attend further courses in flower arranging or floristry offered by Community Learning MK. There are also local Flower Arranging clubs which you could join. What do I need to bring to the class? Please bring a notebook and pen and a packed lunch. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
