Is this the right course for me? Yes, if you are new to bookkeeping! If you are thinking of changing career or seeking employment and are comfortable with figures then this course will give you an introduction to the basics of manual bookkeeping in preparation for employment. What will I learn? You will learn the essentials of the double entry book-keeping system including an introduction to preparing and processing bookkeeping documents. Recording credit transactions, making and receiving payments, recording receipts and maintaining petty cash records. How will I learn? The tutor will give course notes and set practical book-keeping exercises and past exam papers. There will be a combination of individual and group work, plus practical work using Sage software. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification; however you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor. What can I do next? Depending on the reason you attended the course, there may be more courses available which take a more direct approach to your requirements. Progression could be to Sage or, with the appropriate skills the extended award in manual and computerised bookkeeping, Maths, English or Job club. What do I need to bring to the classes? Please bring to class a notepad and pen, plus a folder to keep your work in. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it?
