If your plan is to pursue a career working in event planning and organisation then this could be the course for you. This introductory level course is designed to give you a broad base of knowledge and experience to prepare you for working in event planning or for progression to a higher level course in event management.During the year you will look at the theory of planning and organizing an event including the practical skills of volunteering at an event and gain the experience necessary to progress in the event management industry or related areas. You will spend some time in college participating in classroom sessions as well as in hands-on activities planning and organizing events as part of a project team. You will also take on placements with the college or a local employer putting what you have learned into practice.

Learning activities include lectures workshops and practical sessions. Much of your learning is gained through practical experience in your work placement. A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning. As part of your programme you will be expected to complete a number of volunteering placements and event placements during evenings and weekends.Individual learning targets are set each term and you receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal assessment is through assignments projects presentations and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals throughout the course.
