This short class based course will help to prepare you for a career in the police service or for employment within the criminal justice sector. The Certificate in Knowledge of Policing (CKP) has been developed by the College of Policing to help prepare candidates seeking recruitment in the police service & is increasingly becoming a pre join requirement for Police Forces in England & Wales. The course gives you the opportunity to find more about what is like to be a police officer. It gives an introduction to policing policy and guidelines along with the classroom elements of operational policing and basic legislation. The course will be delivered on a part time basis on 2 evenings a week plus every other Saturday. Delivered by tutors with professional experience as police officers & trainers you will get the chance to meet and talk to your tutors on a regular basis. A course textbook is included in the cost of the course. The CKP is part of the Professional Entry into Policing Pre-Join Strategy & accredits the knowledge & understanding which forms part of the Diploma in Policing qualification. The DiP is the qualification which Regular Police Constables are required to achieve to be confirmed in rank. It forms part of the Initial Police Learning and Dev Programme. The course fee is £934.Students who achieve the CKP through a provider approved by the College of Policing will be able to submit their achievement as evidence of the knowledge component of the Diploma. All awarding organisations offering the DiP recognise and accept the relationship between the CKP and Diploma in Policing. Please note that successful achievement of the CKP does not provide a guarantee of recruitment as a trainee Police Constable. Each police force in England & Wales sets out its own recruitment process. Selection policy & entry requirements vary from force to force. Prospective students are strongly advised to check the specific requirements of their chosen force prior to undertaking study.
