The top-up degree programme has been designed for students who have successfully completed an HND or Foundation degree in a relevant subject and now wish to convert their existing qualification into a full BA honours qualification. This one year programme allows you to develop and refine your chosen specialist discipline. Teaching takes place in a studio setting where there is an emphasis on making and exploring fine art. Students will also be given the opportunity to study the critical and contextual dimensions of fine art practice in the form of weekly art lectures. seminars and workshops. They will be encouraged to develop their thinking and understanding to become independent and critically aware practitioners. The HNC and HND at KCC comprise stages one and two of a three year programme of study. The BA top up is the third stage and will be characterised by the expectation for students to take absolute responsibility for the direction of their work. The programme will encourage a professional orientation that looks beyond the framework of the educational establishment.
