Apprenticeships consist of different qualifications, each of which recognises the achievement of a specific set of skills, enhanced knowledge or level of attainment in a particular subject area. The Apprenticeship includes an, Learners taking the City and Guilds route for their technical certificate will work towards the Level 3 Certificate in Engineering in their chosen bias, in this case Maintenance Engineering. Unlike the BTEC route, the City and Guilds qualifications are assessed both across theory based learning, culminating in a series of exams, as well as by inspection of practical test pieces produced in the Learning Unlimited Derby workshops, Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths. Apprentices also develop qualities and skills needed for success in learning and life in Employee Rights & Responsibilities and Personal Learning & Thinking Skills.
