At Swindon College, you will be assigned a personal tutor who will guide you through the whole process by demonstration and workshop sessions. More than half your time at college will be spent in our high-tech, professional salons whilst essential knowledge is gained by task based learning. On this course you will gain the basic fundamental skills required in the industry including; Health and Safety, Consultation, Shampoo and Condition, Styling, Temporary Colouring, Plaiting and Twisting, Reception Duties, Industry Related Work Experience, Directed Study. Alongside your hairdressing course you will also be completing Functional Skills Maths and English which is a fundamental part of working within the Hairdressing Industry.
Name: Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing Qualification title: Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment The Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) set the standards of Hairdressing NVQ- s. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. When you feel confident that you have mastered a skill, your assessor will observe your work in the training salon. When you both agree that your standard is commercial and competent, then the observation record is signed and transferred to your evidence portfolio. Evidence for your portfolio is collected throughout the course in the form of assignments, projects and case studies, you can photograph work that you perform outside of college or get a witness testimony from your work placement, written tests and oral questions are also included.
