This course delivers the essential skills required to pursue and gain access through university or apprenticeship to a career in Advertising, Corporate Identity, Layout design, Illustration, Marketing & Promotions, Art Direction, Picture Editing, Magazine & Newsprint design, Retail Design and Typographic design. Essential skills being; Generation and development of ideas; research and understanding of forms of visual communication; type layout; digital techniques and applications; illustration techniques and applications. Aspiring designers will explore sustainability and environmental issues that impact on design thinking and application. World-wide cultural references are drawn upon. ?Live? projects with leading companies and universities are set, leading to successful placements. Life-Drawing, Portfolio skills become increasingly important in the second year. Members have the opportunity to enter nationally recognised competitions such as the RSA. Previous students have been invited to show their work at the Grand Designs Show in London.?
