Apprenticeships are a popular choice for young people aged 16 - 24 looking for on-the-job training and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. Most of your training will be directly linked to motor vehicle maintenance and repair, gaining practical experience in the workplace, backed up by attendance at college just one day a week.An Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair will develop your employability skills and give you valuable experience of a variety of Maintenance and repair activities. You will be working in a workshop environment where your duties could encompass many areas of garage work such as servicing, and the replacement or repair of engine, chassis, electrical and transmission components from Motor Vehicles. Health and Safety and housekeeping are also important parts of the qualification. Your exact duties will depend upon your employer.Where possible staff from College Apprenticeships Training will assist in finding you an employer and a place of work (although students who are already employed are welcome to apply if sponsored by their employer). Your offer of Apprenticeship training will be dependent upon work placements being available.Apprenticeships are a great option for school leavers who want to get straight onto the career ladder. An Apprenticeship is equivalent to 5 GCSE's.
