Lip Reading - Introduction

The course aims to give you the basic skills, knowledge and ability to lipread.You will work toward the following: - Listen for the gist of short explanations - Follow single step instructions in a familiar context - Ability to recognise basic lip shapes, - Ability to recognise less visual consonants and vowel shapes - Awareness of mistakes and why they are made - Awareness of rhythm in speech - Memory, concentration and anticipation development - Ability to be assertive - Knowledge of environmental aids and loop systems Teaching and Learning activities: group and individual instruction, role-play, demonstration, discussion and pair / group work
