English language is an accessible course that appeals to students from a wide range of backgrounds. It has an excellent results record and students who commit themselves to the subject stand to achieve highly in this area. You will be taught by enthusiastic and experienced teachers and will be involved in the production and analysis of both written and spoken texts ranging from magazine writing and journalism to scripts and fictional writing. English language involves the technical study of texts and spoken language and looks at the structures and components that go into making a piece of communication. You will need to become skilled at some challenging new areas including grammar and structural analysis. Topics studied include:- Introduction to the language of texts: How language frameworks and linguistic features are used within texts in relation to different purposes and audiences- Original writing: Creating your own pieces of fiction and non-fiction- Exploring spoken language: An analysis of the spoken language of the media
