CAVA Access to Higher Education (Social Science). The study programme is designed for those who wish to progress onto a degree programme and must be aged 19+ at the time of enrolment. The study programme includes 60 Level 3 credits which will be made up of: Psychology: these include 15 credits in units of Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Basic Counseling Theory. It also includes Research Methods in Psychology. Sociology: 15 credits in units of Household and Family Structure and Social Research Methods; as well as a unit on Crime and Deviance. Criminology: 6 credit unit on Criminal Profiling. Valuing Diversity: 3 credit unit Subject based Research project: 6 credit unit in either Sociology or Psychology. There will be additional study skills units in Interpersonal Skills, Reflection and Planning, Preparation for HE and Academic Writing. A variety of assessment is used which includes essays, case studies, presentations, exams and portfolio evidence. You will be in College for 2 days for the Diploma plus half a day for the English or Maths GCSE.
