The CACHE L2 Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification is a full time course ran over one year. This qualification prepares you to work in the health and social care sector. You will gain the knowledge, understanding and competency for entering employment or to continue onto a level 3 qualification with the health and social care field. The programme is made up of 19 units in total. There are 9 mandatory units and 10 optional units. These include mandatory subjects such as Communication, Person Centred Approaches, Equality as well as optional units such as Infection Control, Dementia and providing support for mobility. There are no specific entry requirements however learners need to be aware that maths and English will be part of this qualification. Learner must also be able to demonstrate a genuine interest to work in the field of Health and Social Care and exhibit the 6 'C' - care, compassion, communication, commitment, courage and competence (NHS England 2015). To carry out work placement a DBS is required prior to commencement of the programme (this will be paid for by the college).
