This course is the recognised qualification for Healthcare Assistants and will help you improve your employment prospects and enable you to work in a variety of health and social care settings. It covers the skills required by a new Healthcare Assistant or enables a more experienced Healthcare Assistant to obtain a qualification. To enrol, you must be 18 or over and have recently completed a minimum of 140 hours of voluntary or paid work experience in a health setting before commencing the course. You will need to have a good level of English, on the first class you will undertake an assessment to confirm this. As you will be assessed in the workplace, you need be working a minimum of 14 hours per week in a healthcare setting on a voluntary or paid work basis at the start of, and for the duration of, this course. You will attend the College 3 hours a week for 10 weeks to cover the mandatory units. After this time you work one to one with your assessor. It is expected that during this time you will attend weekly workshops on a Wednesday afternoon between 35pm. You may also wish to progress to the Allied Health Profession Support Level 3 Diploma.
