Health & Social Care Level 2 Diploma

This workbased course is the recognised qualification for people working in the health and social care sector. There are three pathways, Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability. The course covers the skills required by a new care assistant, or enables a more experienced carer to obtain a qualification. Students must be 18 or over to enrol and you must have recently completed a minimum of 140 hours of voluntary or paid work experience in a health and social care setting before starting the course. As this course requires a good level of English, you will undertake an assessment during the first class to confirm your place. You will need to be working a minimum of 14 hours per week in a health and social care setting on a voluntary or paid work basis at the start of, and for the duration of, this course, as you will be assessed in the workplace. We will need to obtain a reference from your employer prior to you starting on the course. You are expected to remain in the same setting for the length of the course. You will attend College 3 hours a week for 10 weeks to cover the mandatory units. You will then work one to one with your assessor and it is expected you will attend weekly workshops on a Wednesday afternoon between 35pm. This course can help improve your employment prospects and enable you to work in a variety of health and social care settings.
