ANIMAL WELFARE & BEHAVIOUR - HND FT

This course focuses on educating and training for a range of careers in the animal management and allied land-based industries. The qualification prepares you for employment in the animal management and welfare sector and will allow you to expand your knowledge, understanding and skills and help you develop a range of techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. The course is suitable for adults and learners leaving further education who would like a career in the animal management and welfare industry. You will study the following core units: * Business Environment * Animal Husbandry Management * Animal Health & Welfare * Animal Nutrition You will also study a range of other topics which may include: * Research Project * Animal Training * Employment Skills * Animal Anatomy and Physiology * Animal Behaviour * Exotics and the Pet Trade * Animal Adaptations * Natural History of Exotic Mammals All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English and maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
