This course is for progressing music students who are keen to further develop their knowledge, understanding, skills and techniques as a musician and/or music producer for successful employment in the music industry or progression to further study. The course combines performance and production skills with creativity, using advances in computer music and digital recording technology to produce compositions for commercial release. In addition students will have a broad insight into to the music business with input from lecturers who are experienced musicians and visiting industry practitioners, all in a vibrant and challenging environment. We will provide you with the opportunity for specialist study relevant to you as an individual and are interested in applicants from all musical backgrounds, from classical, to popular and world. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the music industry who are progressing from relevant level 3 qualifications. As a student on the HND Music course you will develop your existing music skills through studying a variety of topics and an exciting range of units. You will: * have access to our state-of-the-art recording studio to develop your engineering and production skills * utilise the rehearsal facilities to develop your performance skills * work within our dedicated Mac Suite to hone your compositions and computer music skills * develop your research skills through studying topics such as World Music and the History of Popular Music * work on music projects to hone your instrumental and song writing skills * perform a range of material at a variety of venues around the region * develop links with the music industry, both locally and nationally All LMC students receive tutorial support.
