ART & DESIGN - LEVEL 3

This is a very practical course which explores a broad range of Art and Design specialist areas. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the creative industries or who are progressing from level 2 art and design courses. In year 1 you will study the following units: * Introduction to visual language * Introduction to research skills * Introduction to critical and contextual awareness * Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills * An integrated approach to 2D problem solving in art and design * And integrated approach to 3D problem solving in art and design * An integrated approach to time-based problem solving in art and design * Developing an art and design project * Opportunities for progression in art and design The first year will introduce a wide range of practical art & design skills to help you identify your strengths by working across a broad range of media and techniques. In year 2 you will study the following units: * Characteristics and contexts in art and design * Preparation for progression in art and design * Engaging with an audience in art and design * Project proposal and realisation in art and design The second year of the course allows you to further develop your skills and specialise in a number of areas. Students from this course have gone on to study a wide range of courses in Higher Education. All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.
