This course is particularly suitable for people who are, or are planning to be, working or volunteering in an education setting and who have some experience of this role at present. This is a knowledge based qualification suitable for all support roles in schools, including voluntary/parent helpers who would like to develop an understanding of how settings operate and the role of support workers. Students undertake an 80 hour placement in an education setting, over the duration of the course, and this provides the practical experience to enhance the knowledge gained through the course. All students put together a portfolio of evidence which consists of class exercises, case studies, homework tasks, such as reflective journal entries, and short reports. Students will also begin to develop display and research skills.
