When you study travel and tourism you will discover that it involves a lot more than working as cabin crew! Travel and tourism is a dynamic industry which accounts for almost 3 million jobs in the UK and provides work opportunities globally, in lots of different roles. Our course equips you with the skills that you need to be part of this fascinating industry and is the first step on your journey to an exciting career. By the end of the 2 years you will have a clearer idea as to whether you want to work for a tour operator, airline, hotel, travel agent or other travel related business. The units cover a wide range of subjects, including among others, worldwide travel destinations, special interest holidays, and holiday park host in your first year, with cruising, business travel and resort representatives being some of the units in your second. You will be expected to go on a UK residential trip, and visit a variety of attractions or tourist destinations. You will work as part of a team as well as individually. Research is an important part of the preparation for assessment and we have dedicated computer suites as well as resources such as atlases, guide books and brochures for use in our classrooms. Our simulated aircraft cabin and check-in desks provide a realistic environment in which to practise for assessments.
