Exploring 20th century art song: a selection of English language works for voice and piano

We will explore the wide scope of art song in 20th century Britain, including the pastoral beauties of Vaughan Williams, the complex psychology of Britten, the experimental theatricality of Peter Maxwell-Davies, the wry humour of Madeleine Dring, the neo-Romanticism of Ian Venables and the folk-inflected modernism of Judith Weir.
