Painting and Decorating Level 2 Diploma

This course will develop your basic painting and decorating skills to further enhance your practical skills. On completion you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma. The programme has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the test(s) are based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirement of the qualification. To gain the diploma, students must pass a series of practical assessments covering preparation of surfaces, paint application, wallpapering, creating and applying colour and specialist decorative finishes. There are also seven multiple choice theory tests corresponding to each unit of the qualification as listed below.The programme will enable you to study a wide range of skills, all of which will help you on your chosen career pathway, moving into employment or further training. You will get the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification linked to your chosen career. Also, this programme will help you to improve your English, maths and ICT, plus develop the personal and social skills which employers look for. You will be given support and guidance throughout your learning journey and your progress will be reviewed with you regularly.Students will complete the following units for both practical and job knowledge: -230: Creating and applying colour -201: Health, safety and welfare in construction -202: Principles of building, construction, information and communication -220: Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms -215: Preparing surfaces for decoration -216: Applying paint systems by brush and roller -217: Applying standard papers -230: Creating and applying colour -218: Producing specialist decorative finishes

Entry requirements

Students will be expected to supply their own steel toe-capped footwear, white bib and brace overalls, a note pad and pen. A full City and Guilds workbook is provided for each student.
