Why study A2 Level Media Studies? Building on the work done as AS Level, A2 gives students the chance to study certain aspects of the media in more detail. What's on the course? Study of three specific Media industries * Cinema * Television * Computer Games For each industry three specific texts will be studied. At least two of the texts must be contemporary and at least one must be British. For example, Cinema - Slumdog Millionaire; Twilight; Bullet Boy Television - Pulling; Wife Swap; Dexter Computer games - Tomb Raider; Grand Theft Auto; Wii Fit The A2 coursework is a research based 1800 word investigation which will inform a practical production piece. The investigation must focus on one of the following concepts: Genre, Narrative or Representation.

Name: A2 Level Media Studies Qualification title: GCE A Level in Media Studies Qualification type: Assessment As at AS level the coursework is worth 50% of the total year's marks. The exam module is again worth 50%. The examination is two and a half hours and consists of one question from a choice of two in section A and two questions from a choice of four in Section B. Section A focuses on the specific texts studied, whilst section B deals more generally with Industry and Audience issues. Each question must be answered with reference to a different media industry.
