Most of the course is based on the practical making of artwork. There is a separate compulsory written element to the coursework which should relate to the specialism being studied. Minimum 1000 words. It develops analytical, technical and expressive skills It develops intellectual, creative, imaginative and intuitive powers It develops knowledge and understanding of the role and achievements of artists in the past and in contemporary society. Students will follow a broad course in Fine Art producing a practical portfolio which provides evidence of a sustained investigation into a theme which can be selected by the student and relating to their personal interests in art. The separate written study is guided by the teachers and should be at least 1000 words. Fine Art gives students the widest range of options in the use of materials and art historical contexts. It is very suitable as a sound basis for more specialised art courses at college or university.
