A general etching course covering a range of techniques and creative ideas, making studies through to the finished print. Beginners and the more experienced welcome. Course fee does not include materials required for projects. Etching, linocuts and monotypes - you will learn how to:* Draw and select relevant images and material for printmaking* Prepare plates, make soft and hard grounds using different metals* Transfer drawings to the plate/lino and drawing image* Bite plates and learn the safe use of acids and cutting the lino* Make aquatint and various other textures that create tone* All aspects of printing/etching and lino, black and white multi-plates* Have an understanding of the history and relevance of printmakingYou will be encouraged to develop your own styles and ideas in a creative way.
