Your learning will take place in the College?s Pure Salon where you will work on practice blocks and real clients to gain assessments. You will also undertake work experience out in the industry to prepare you for the working environment. During this course you will cover the following mandatory units: ; Introduction to the hair and beauty sector ; Presenting a professional image in a salon ; The art of dressing hair ; Follow health and safety in the salon ; Working with others in the hair and beauty sector ; Create a hair and beauty image ; Colour hair using temporary colour ; Salon reception duties ; Creating and maintaining displays in the salon ; Shampoo and conditioning ; Styling women?s hair Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C or above. If you have achieved a grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will engage in extending these skills through a Directed Study Programme.
