"A Level Physiological Factors Affecting Performance - Students will study applied anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology and biomechanics. This unit is assessed by a 1 hour 15 minute written exam. Psychological and socio-cultural themes in physical education - Students will study skill acquisition, sports psychology and sport & society. This unit is assessed by a 1 hour 15 minute written exam. Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport - Students will study sport and society and contemporary issues in physical activity & sport. This unit is assessed by a 1 hour written exam. Performance in physical education (non exam) - Students will focus on performance or coaching, as well as evaluation of performance for improvement. Aims of Course * Develop the ability to inter-relate the theoretical aspects of Physical Education with practical activity * Develop the skills necessary to analyse, evaluate and improve performance * Develop scientific, social, moral and cultural issues which affect participation in physical activity * Develop planning and practical skills for effective performance and problem solving * Provide an experience that can prepare them for both employment or advanced study * Develop an understanding of balanced, healthy, active lifestyles. Approaches to Learning: Students can expect to learn both individually and in groups, develop their presentation skills, engage in research and improve their ICT skills. Who is this course aimed at?
