Natural Dyeing and Mark Making with Plants

UPDATED 20160421 12:16:23

Over five Tuesdays, students will learn to prepare different fabrics using alternative mordants to accept natural plant dyes, enabling the fabric colour to last longer. We will use a range of natural dye plants some grown at Morley College to create colourful hues and experiment with pattern through resist, steam and tying. We will also take note and inspiration from the history of natural dyeing, different cultural practises and some current developments in natural dyeing. This course is suitable for all levels.
