Writing - Students will study one text and one film or two texts from those listed in the specification. This unit is assessed by a 2 hour exam. Speaking - Students will undertake their own research project from one of the four sub-themes in the listening, reading and writing paper. This unit is assessed by oral exam, lasting between 21 and 23 minutes. Aims of Course: The AS and A Level German course is designed to enable students to communicate even more effectively in German on a wide range of topics of current interest, in both social and professional situations and, importantly, to foster the ability to collect, analyse and exchange information, ideas, attitudes and opinions through the medium of the foreign language. Approaches to Learning: Students will experience interactive, engaging teaching and learning in languages. You will be expected to work independently but will of course be well supported by your teaching staff. Developing both written and communication skills is central to the course, but you will also have plenty of opportunity to work with others, undertake personal research and improve your linguistic fluency! Who is this course aimed at? Anyone who has a love of languages, who wants to find out more about German culture and who understands that languages are a useful and transferable skill in today’s world. If you would like to study German at university then A Level is a must, but an A Level in German will undoubtedly make you an attractive future employee in whatever field you choose to enter."
