"Year 1 You will develop your understanding of the German language by expanding your skills in reading, listening and writing in the target language. You will also acquire a thorough knowledge of the various grammatical concepts underlying the German language including tenses as well as cases. The language will not be studied in isolation but through a range of current and captivating topics. You will enhance your speaking skills by regular practice both in class and in specialist speaking tutorials so that you are able to enhance your language skills covering a wide range of topics. Year 2 Continue to enhance your knowledge of the language by improving your range of vocabulary and general grammatical accuracy. There will also be an increased focus on more advanced language structures, which, for example, are often found in reputable German newspapers. You will also engage in an aspect of cultural study such as a German film, region or literature. Spoken German will continue to be practised as in year 1."
