Level 3 Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment

This course will provide you with a thorough introduction to the subject knowledge required for a range of technical and professional occupations within the construction industry and cover such areas as architectural design, CAD, estimating, production planning, building surveying and site supervision. Throughout the course you will complete18 units that are designed to focus on the practical application of knowledge and work-related skills necessary within the construction industry at managerial/professional level. You will be continually assessed through a combination of both internal and external assessments in the form of assignments, reports, test papers, presentations and oral questioning, through which you will demonstrate an understanding of and the application of principles and practices for each unit. For each unit you complete you will receive either a pass, merit or distinction grade, which will contribute to an overall grade at the end of the course.

Entry requirements

Students will have the opportunity of visiting local construction sites, trade shows and projects within the built environment. In year 2 it is expected that all students will participate in a 1 week work placement and experience working within a team environment, also to attend a compulsory Residential weekend.
