This course will enable you to understand how language is used in speech and writing. The aim is that by the end of the course you will be able to analyse how we make meaning construct sentences and choose our words. We also examine how we relate to others when we speak and write as well as studying how children learn and speak This course follows the AQA specification A syllabus. One of the two units is coursework in which you will study how the media present events and people through language and how this can be done in a more positive way. The other unit is an examination for which you will be studying newer methods of using writing such as texting emails MSN and social network sites as well as looking at how language use is constantly adapting to the human need to communicate.
