During Year 12 students will study Britain during the Tudors, examining how Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth dealt with their different problems and personalities, controlled the country. Germany is the other main topic with students studying the period 1919 - 1963. In Year 13, the coursework will focus on Elizabeth I and how she managed to stabilise the country after taking control. The examined unit will focus on how Americans improved their civil rights from the end of the civil war until 1992. Students will find out about women's rights and Native Americans, as well as the struggle for the rights of black Americans. Lessons come in a number of forms such as debating, producing displays and source analysis. Above all History attempts to produce lessons where students enjoy learning whilst being stretched and challenged to really make progress in their ability to analyse information and come to their own conclusions about areas of controversy over the periods studied.
