This day will give us the opportunity to explore painting from life at one of English Heritage's list of gardens of historic interest. Once the ancestral home of the Sanford family, the gardens were laid out during the Victorian period and have many points of interest including a pinetum, ice house, parterre and walled vegetable garden. We will be based in the Orangery which allows good views to paint even if the weather is unkind! The day will progress as follows: 10:00 Meet in the Orangery. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. The tutors will give an introduction to the day. 10:30 Depending on the weather find a suitable place in the gardens or in the orangery to sketch or paint. 13:00 Lunch. Bring your own picnic! 13:30 More painting and exploring the gardens. 15:15 Meet in the Orangery for refreshments and feedback.
