Duration : 1 year Students will work towards an Entry Level Award',' Certificate or Diploma',' which will include a variety of different units focusing on life skills and employment',' literacy',' numeracy and ICT skills while developing personal learning and thinking skills. Students will also benefit from enrichment activities to build social skills such as drama-based activities and fundraising projects. The programme also includes an introduction to a range of work-related vocational areas',' giving students the chance to develop skills (subject to location) in areas such as: - Art - Drama - Music - Cookery - Sport - Carpentry - Painting & Decorating - Motor Vehicle - Conservation (Horticulture) - Business',' Enterprise & Retail Students on Horizons courses will also undertake work experience with support from job coaches to help increase their potential to future employment opportunities. Entry Requirements: The course is for students who often have a statement of Special Educational Needs',' such as a moderate learning difficulty and/or disability. For Horizons 2',' students must have Horizons 1',' attend a successful interview and undertake an initial assessment. Career Options: Students can progress onto Horizons 2',' the second year of the programme',' where they will have the opportunity to continue to develop their independent and life skills and enhance their vocational experiences in preparation for employment or further study. Alternatively',' or upon completion of Horizons 2',' students can progress onto an Entry Level 3 or Level 1 vocational course at the College.
