Pastel Perfect

This Pastel Perfect course is an introduction to pastels, from landscape to portrait. Learn how to mix pastels on paper, which paper and pastels create particular effects and explore the varied colours and tones which can be achieved. For beginners and intermediates, who have already have some knowledge of drawing techniques, although we will cover use of perspective, light and shade, the colour wheel, composition and proportions. Those interested in Abstract Art, beginners and the more experienced are welcome as projects will be self directed., It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to a Programme Manager before you enrol.

Entry requirements

You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to your preferred medium., From the outset we will be working in colour, so please bring a range of pencils, some coloured medium eg paint, pastels or any other materials that you already have that might be appropriate to the first lesson. You will also need an A4 sketchbook, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound containing good quality cartridge paper. If you are a complete beginner and have no materials at all, please wait for your tutor's advice about what to buy on the first day of the course., .
