Textiles - Big 'Ol Bag, Purse and More

You will be learning to use a sewing machine and do some basic hand stitching as you make easy sewing projects which could include bags, pillow or cushion covers, table runners, bunting, pin cushions, notebook covers, hanging toy tidies and aprons., You will learn some basic pattern drawing, measuring and cutting skills, as well as tacking; basting; stitching a seam and making a button loop. If time permits, you will also have the chance to embellish your work using freehand embroidery techniques or applying beads/buttons/use of bias binding etc., By the end of this course, you should be able to:, Thread up and use a variety of stitches on a sewing machine., Make and press an open seam. , Make a button hole and stitch on a button by hand., Use basic sewing skills of measuring, pattern-cutting, tacking and stitching, Use more advanced applique and sewing skills to embellish your work, Absolute beginners or those who want to brush up their basic skills and start to sew small craft projects.
