Patchwork and Quilting - Quilt As you Go

This is a clever technique which makes quick and easy work of patchwork and quilting. You will learn how to put together patchwork blocks - both by using traditional pattern templates and by improvising with your fabrics. You will also learn how to machine and/or hand quilt a block and, finally, you will learn how to finish or piece your blocks together to make unique, colourful items for your home or as gifts., By the end of this course, you should be able to:, Design and construct a variety of patchwork blocks, Sew a seam and quilt by hand and/or sewing machine, Combine patchwork blocks to construct a patchwork quilt; bag; cushion or other item(s).,

Entry requirements

You will need some Squared paper, pencil, ruler and coloured pencils a selection of pieces of dress-weight fabric (patchwork fat quarters are ideal) of your choice. (Quantity required depends upon number of blocks you intend to make). Wadding and backing fabrics (dependent upon project) and later on in the course. You will need sewing thread and basic sewing kit, including sharp, fabric scissors or a rotary cutter for the first session an embroidery hoop (for hand-quilting) also later in the course and you may also wish to bring your own sewing machine to the classes but the centre does have ones can use.
