Sculpture in Clay - The Head from Life

This is a one day course that introduces some of the basic techniques and processes of sculpting the human head in clay. If you have attended portraiture or life drawing classes previously, then this would be an interesting and challenging extension of what you have learned. If you have not drawn heads or portraits before, this is a very direct approach and a way in to looking at and recording the features of the head as you do not have to translate three dimensions into two There will be a portrait model to work from. , , By the end of the course, you should:, have a clay sculpture to take home, have a basic understanding of the technical considerations of sculpting the head in clay, be able to sculpt the figure more accurately from observation, , Please note that the sculptures will not be fired and should dry out naturally when you get them home., , , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking. Beginners and those with some experience.

Please consider how you will transport your sculpture(s) home at the end of the session as it/they will be delicate and will not be dry; it would be a good idea to bring a large cardboard box to put it/them in.
