Landscape with Expression - Summer School

4 DAY LANDSCAPE WITH EXPRESSION PAINTING SUMMER COURSE , The week will be filled with working on different exercises with the aim to improve observation through sketching and painting, and using mixed media if preferred as a means to express the sense/atmosphere of the landscape. This is an outline of what is proposed for the week, however it may be reorganised according to the weather or logistics. We may go out on location, information of this will be given on day 1. , , Day 1, IDENTIFYING TONAL AREAS AND RECESSION WHEN WORKING FROM A PHOTOGRAPH - working from a photo can allow for more control and consideration., , Day 2, MARK MAKING - UNDERSTANDING THE LANDSCAPE IN SCULTURAL TERMS BUT STILL WORKING IN 2D. Working from life possibly in the grounds of the Ad. Ed. Centre. Two exercises for the day one in the morning and one in the afternoon., , Day 3 CREATING TEXTURE, Texture is a good means of imbuing expression into a landscape., Techiques will be demonstrated and debated where best used., , Day 4, , Complete painting., Group discussion and critique, . , , Students with some art experience who would like to try or improve on their painting of landscapes . There will be plenty of opportunity for outside visits as part of a structured course.
