Textiles - Gadget Cover

This day course will give you the opportunity to make a small, simple case for a phone, ipod or similar, small gadget. Alternatively, you could use your time to create a purse or pencil case. Your tutor will provide a simple pattern guide and you will learn some basic pattern drawing, measuring and cutting skills, as well as tacking; basting; stitching a seam and making a button loop. If time permits, you will also have the chance to embellish your work using freehand embroidery techniques or applying beads/buttons/use of bias binding etc., By the end of this course, you should be able to , Plan and produce a simple pattern for use with dress-making fabric, Design and construct a simple, lined, fabric gadget case/purse using basic sewing skills of measuring, pattern-cutting, tacking and stitching, Use more advanced applique and sewing skills to embellish your work, , This course is suitable for complete beginners but would also be a good refresher course, Students are welcome to bring their own machines or use one at the centre. Please note as with all our craft courses, good manual dexterity is needed
